North Korea Conducts Medium-Range Ballistic Missile Test

On Sunday, North Korea successfully launched a new type of medium-range ballistic missile according to state media.

According to North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim Jong Un himself was present for the launch of what was called The Pukguksong-2 missile.  The act is in violation of United Nation’s Security Council resolutions prohibiting North Korea from conducting ballistic missile testing.

The launch reverberated through the region with South Korea, Japan, the United States, China and Russia all voicing opposition to the launch.  The United Nations Security Council held an urgent meeting on Monday and condemned the test stating that it would monitor the situation and take further measures if warranted.
